SMCo's Latest Custom LiveWire ONE is a High-Speed, Touring-Ready Beast
Having ridden the LiveWire ONE extensively throughout Southern California, New York City, the United Kingdom, Barcelona, and many other locales, Aaron and Shaun Guardado of bespoke fabrication and design house, SMCo, in Long Beach, CA endeavored to create a LiveWire model tailored for the fast-paced, touring-inspired segment.
The first step was the inclusion of a top box. While traveling, Aaron and Shaun are always armed with camera equipment, tools, and adaptable layers for varied climates, so they needed a bike with ample storage for souvenirs and supplies collected along the way. Enhancing the bike's functionality, SMCo incorporated a Baja Designs® LED LP9 headlight and fog lights, ensuring clear visibility whether cruising along the coast or navigating through hills. Transforming the bike's rear, they streamlined it by fabricating an aluminum undertail section, complete with an integrated Baja Designs LED taillight.
“IT OBVIOUSLY HAD TO BE COVERED IN THE PROTOTYPE-TEST MULE DAZZLE CAMO”
Dymag worked with the OEM specs to machine a direct fit set of their 3 spoke H Section classic wheel that Eddie Lawson raced on in the 80’s and then paired those with oversized 330MM floating Braketech USA rotors. After boxing in the swingarm, a very road race-inspired approach, Aaron and Shaun decided to leave the welded and raw aluminum to match the wheels, billet rear sets, machined fog light covers, and collaborative charging port cover. To infuse a distinctive touch, this one-off touring type bike obviously had to be covered in the prototype-test mule dazzle camo paintwork by Airtrix, extended seamlessly onto the billet machined parts.
Ready to put down some serious miles, this LiveWire boasts a windscreen, full carbon bodywork, and a custom Saddlemen® seat. Prepared for diverse terrains, the bike features a skid plate for off-the-beaten-path adventures. Race Tech contributed to the bike's performance by hard anodizing suspension parts, DLC coating fork tubes and rear shaft, and selecting a British Racing Green rear spring for a stylish touch.
In essence, Aaron and Shaun's aim was to transform this motorcycle into a versatile, high-speed vehicle capable of swiftly reaching any destination, all while carrying the essentials needed for the journey. Job done.
